What Is An HVAC Blower Motor?
A blower motor is what cycles the air circulation from your furnace or air conditioning unit into your home. There are several types of motors. Here are a few of the main types of main types of HVAC fans and blowers. Here are some of the more common ones:
- Belt drive motors use a pulley or belt and are best for adjustable operating speeds.
- Direct-drive motors are less noisy and more efficient because they are mounted directly onto the HVAC equipment, which minimizes friction.
- C-frame motors are for smaller HVAC units, such as electric heaters.
How do I know if my HVAC fans and blowers are bad?
HVAC blowers are made up of three primary parts: a motor, fan blades and an electrical system and when one or more of them is failing, you can expect different problems. The furnace may become noisy, it may overheat, or you may begin to notice an usual burning smell every time your furnace turns on. Also, as a safety precaution, when HVAC fans and blowers are going bad, they might not even start at all so they don't overheat. No matter what the problem is, you can count on Southern Pipe & Supply to help you find the right solution to repairing your HVAC fans and blowers.
What Causes Overheating?
There are many reasons your furnace could be overheating. Some of the most common issues include dust buildup, HVAC blower component failure and age. You want to make sure you are doing the right upkeep for the HVAC system in your home. But if something does fail, know you can count on Southern Pipe & Supply to have the parts you need.
